4th Annual TRUCK-A-RAMA and
Safety Awareness Day
June 3, 2000
Tyler Campbell, great-great grandson of the company founder, "Pop"
Campbell, climbs aboard! The truck is a restored 1931 Ford stake body truck,
like the one used to haul coal and lumber at the company's inception in 1933.
One
of the HFC big rigs towed the PMTA Transportation Safety Lab to the event. This
mobile unit is a rolling safety tool to increase public awareness of truck
safety issues such as the "NO ZONE".
Katie
Schreiber, great-great grandaughter of "Pop" Campbell, gets a first
hand "look" at the blind spots from the cab of a truck at the "NO
ZONE" display. The display demonstrated how four vehicles surrounding this
truck were unable to be seen from the drivers seat.
Dick
Campbell (second from left) shown in action at the Driving Competition. Dick
organized and ran the competition, with thirty drivers showcasing their driving
skills. This years winner was Tim Waite from Mifflintown, PA. Tim received the
first-place prize of $125 for his efforts.
